Ceramic Festival (Yi-Cheon)

Icheon has been a center of ceramics and pottery ever since the Bronze Age. In 2010, it was designated as a “City of Crafts and Folk Art," part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. During the festival, visitors can see a wide range of some of the finest ceramic art in the world, such as celadon porcelain, or cheongja, white porcelain, or baekja, and grayish-blue powdered celadon, or buncheongsagi. The festival is also Korea's largest ceramics and pottery festival.

The Icheon Pottery Village features 200-plus ceramics-making firms in the area , and a popular visitor attraction. They use traditional skills and produce porcelains in some 40 traditional firewood kilns. This pottery is recognized both at home and abroad for its quality. Ye's Park, Korea's biggest crafts village, is a largest craft village with facilities for the production, display and sales of ceramics arts as well as those for artists residence.
